Metro station Saint-Germain-des-Prés, line 4, best district of Paris - 6th arrondissement

That’s it, did you get your tickets? Paris is waiting for you! Let’s go for a drink on the terrace, a new exhibition or an amateur theater play. There are thousands of accommodations in Paris. So, if you don’t know the French capital very well and you are looking for a hotel in Hotel in the best district of Paris, let us guide you in the 6th arrondissement that we love so much. …

The 6th arrondissement of Paris

Where is located the 6th arrondissement of Paris ?

First of all, where is located the 6th arrondissement of Paris exactly ?

If we had to go around the 6th arrondissement, we would walk along the Seine from rue des Saints-Pères to Place Saint-Michel. There, we would go up Boulevard Saint-Michel to turn right onto Boulevard Montparnasse. Finally, at the Duroc metro, we would turn right again, rue de Sèvres to reach rue des Saints-Pères. The 6th arrondissement therefore adjoins the 5th arrondissement (and the Latin Quarter) and the 7th arrondissement.

Thus, in the 6th arrondissement, we can find :

– The Luxembourg Garden & Palais du Luxembourg

– The Saint-Sulpice Quarter with the Saint-Sulpice church

– The Saint-Germain-des-Prés Quarter with its famous church

Small precision, the Latin Quarter is not part of the 6th arrondissement, but rather of the 5th arrondissement. Nice but not the best district of Paris 😉

Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the soul of the 6th arrondissement

When we think of the 6th arrondissement, we think of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The soul of Saint-Germain, its history, its fame. The names of Simone de Beauvoir, Sartre and Juliette Gréco are inseparable from the district, as are the famous Café de Flore or the Café des Deux Magots. Historic, artistic, literary district… Intellectual district since the 17th century…

Art & literature

In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, art galleries abound in the alleys that surround the Beaux Arts. The Parcours Saint-Germain and other occasional events recall the wildly artistic soul of the district. Openings are legion in the 6th arrondissement, as are booksellers.

On the banks of the Seine river, let your curiosity sneak between the stalls of booksellers. The many bookstores in the neighborhood as well as the Prix de Flore cajole the literary world.

Outings & Gastronomy

Many good restaurants are to be discovered in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Let us mention for example the gastronomic restaurant Guy Savoy, the bistronomic cuisine of Cyril Lignac Aux Prés or the mythical Procope, rue de l’Ancienne Comédie.

Culture & Monuments

Of course, the historical heritage is no longer to be demonstrated when you know that the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés holds the oldest bell tower in Paris. Add to that the so romantic Place Furstemberg, the so charming rue du Commerce Saint-André and the majestic Senate, your eyes will be able to ask for more! For students, go to Place de la Sorbonne in the Latin Quarter, a historic district close to the 6th arrondissement.

On museum side, you will find the Eugène Delacroix workshop and museum on Place Furstemberg, the often overlooked Monnaie de Paris, or the Zadkin Museum on rue d’Assas.

In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, we visit, we taste, we stroll, we are interested, and above all, we enjoy!
