First of all, the President of the Republic, perhaps accompanied, but not yet known, by the incoming President elected the day before, will ascend Avenue des Champs Elysees escorted by the Republican Guard to Place de l&#8217;Etoile. He will then lay a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier under\u00a0the Arc de Triomphe and then in front of the statue of General de Gaulle, Place Cl\u00e9menceau in the 8th arrondissement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many places will be closed for the occasion to the public, for example the Place de l&#8217;Etoile will be closed since the evening before.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here is a small selection\u00a0of \u00a0places opened on May 8, 2017:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #99ccff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #99ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.louvre.fr\/en\/homepage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Louvre Museum<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, is just a 5-minute walk from Hotel des 2 Continents. The exhibition <em>Vermeer and the masters of genre painting<\/em> is to be discovered until May 22, remember to book before! Opening hours: 9:00 am-6:00 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #99ccff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #99ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.paris-conciergerie.fr\/en\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Conciergerie<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #99ccff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #99ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sainte-chapelle.fr\/en\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sainte-Chapelle<\/a><\/strong><\/span> will also open their doors this Monday. On the Ile de la Cit\u00e9, those two\u00a0monuments are pure jewels. Respectively house of kings and chapel ordered by Saint-Louis, they recall a monarchy whose megalomania initiated the most beautiful achievements. Did you know that the Sainte-Chapelle alone had cost half the annual budget of the state at that time? Its majesty is more fully understood. Little advice: go there during the day to enjoy the light in stained glass, magic! An eternal home of great men and women, it houses a gigantic pendulum as well as models of the different stages of its realization. Visiting hours: 10:00 am &#8211; 6:00 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #99ccff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #99ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fondationlouisvuitton.fr\/en.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Louis Vuitton Foundation<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, whose edifice alone is appreciated, hosts within its walls the exhibition <em>Art \/ Africa<\/em>. Visiting hours: 11:00 am &#8211; 8:00 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #99ccff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #99ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grandpalais.fr\/en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Grand Palais<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, which was created for the Universal Exhibition in 1900, proposes the splendid exhibition <em>Rodin, the centennial exhibition<\/em>. Tip: do not forget to look up when you arrive in front of the Grand Palais, you never get tired of the view!
