On this\u00a0May 8, 201<\/strong>7, a holiday\u00a0commemorating the armistice of 1945, will take place the traditional ceremony. First of all, the President of the Republic, perhaps accompanied, but not yet known, by the incoming President elected the day before, will ascend Avenue des Champs Elysees escorted by the Republican Guard to Place de l’Etoile. He will then lay a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier under\u00a0the Arc de Triomphe and then in front of the statue of General de Gaulle, Place Cl\u00e9menceau in the 8th arrondissement.<\/p>\n

Many places will be closed for the occasion to the public, for example the Place de l’Etoile will be closed since the evening before.<\/p>\n
