Emily Cooper is a young woman from United States and she works as a campaign manager for the marketing agency SAVOIR in Paris. Her speciality is making us dream by sharing her Parisian adventures through her online businesses on digital platforms such as Instagram. It’s sometimes hard to remember all the iconic spots she shares, so we’ve taken it upon ourselves to propose programs for thousands in Paris to give you some great ideas of tours. We’ll start with the cult places, continue with a selection of not-to-be-missed restaurants, and finish with the famous Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. Happy reading!

The 6 iconic landmarks in Emily In Paris

Estrapade Square

This charming square in the 5th arrondissement of Paris is none other than the main location of the series. Here’s the building where Emily, Mindy and Lucas Bravo aka Gabriel live. Gabriel’s restaurant ‘L’Esprit de Gigi’, whose real name is Terra Nera, is also located here. It’s a lovely district near the busy and beautiful street Rue Mouffetard. A little historical anecdote: the Estrapade square, so peaceful today, didn’t always have this reputation. The estrapade was a torture technique used in the 17th century. It consisted of tying up the arms, back and feet of the accused and releasing him into the air as many times as it took to crush all his bones! Horrifying, isn’t it? Yet this practice did exist and took place in this charming place, where many passers-by today read a book, have a coffee, or even, like Lily Collins aka Emily Cooper, fall in love!

The Pont Neuf

A famous Parisian bridge that crosses the Ile de la Cité to the Monnaie de Paris Museum, the Pont Neuf is a key romantic scene in the 4th season of Emily in Paris. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Pont Neuf is, despite its name (neuf = new), the oldest bridge in the capital. Both the stone architecture and the views are breathtaking. You can enjoy beautiful views of the Cheval Blanc, the Samaritaine and also the top of the Eiffel Tower. It’s the perfect place for a romantic stroll, at any time, both day and night! Other must-see bridges include the Pont des Arts and the Pont Alexandre III.

A little anecdote that’s as surprising as it is funny: thanks to a mistake made by the series, the Pont-Neuf in… Toulouse (!) made an appearance in one of the previous seasons of Emily in Paris. Just goes to show that even the best people make mistakes…

The Gardens of the Palais Royal

Emily In Paris – The Gardens of Palais Royal

Built in 1633, Palais Royal Gardens are where Emily and her friend Mindy first met. The bench on which they sit bears the words: « Aujourd’hui, c’est demain et hier qui s’épousent » which means : ‘Today is tomorrow and yesterday that marry’. Designated a ‘Remarkable Garden’, it extends over 20,000m2 in the centre of the Palais Royal in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, next to Rue de Rivoli. There are numerous statues, some dating back to the 19th century, such as the Snake Charmer and The Shepherd and the Goat, lots of greenery and, of course, the famous Buren columns, built by Daniel Buren in 1986.

For book lovers, the Jardin du Palais Royal was the inspiration for many of Honoré de Balzac’s works, a famous french writer. Paris has many beautiful gardens, all of which deserve to be discovered! We recommend you take a look at the Jardin des Tuileries, which is close to the Jardin du Palais Royal, and the Jardin du Luxembourg, in the 5th arrondissement, which is just as charming.

The Butte Montmartre

Emily in Paris – The Pink House in Montmartre

The Butte Montmartre and its cobblestone streets are by far one of the most popular areas of Paris. Known for the incredible Sacré-Coeur Basilica on top of its slight hill, it’s the quintessential romantic Parisian neighborhood. You can stroll through the streets admiring the breathtaking views over the whole city, as Emily did with her handsome Italian at sunrise in the last season. The Place du Tertre with its famous caricaturists, the many busking spots, the Espace Dalí, the vineyards and the Musée de Montmartre are also worth a visit. Place Dalida is a nice place to see as well. It was here that Emily had a mattress installed for the campaign management of Swedish luxury mattress company Hästens, the aim being to encourage her followers to sleep under the stars.

Now, a cultural point: Pablo Picasso lived in the Butte Montmartre between 1900 and 1911, a very inspiring neighborhood for the artist!

A must-see address in Montmartre is the famous Pink House or Maison Rose, located in Rue de l’Abreuvoir, with its pretty pink façade and green shuttered windows. Emily and her friend Mindy really enjoyed going there for a drink!

The Atelier des Lumières

Difficult to not mention the splendid Atelier des Lumières of Paris. Located at 38 rue Saint-Maur on the 11th arrondissement, this place is a dream coming true. Numerous works by artists such as Van Gogh and Chagall are projected onto the walls of each room, immersing the entire spot. It’s an incredibly cultural and immersive experience that lets you learn while you dream. Emily went there with Gabriel and Camille on the Van Gogh exhibition and to calm her troubled mind.

Roland Garros Stadium

Known for its major international clay-court tennis tournament since 1891, the Stade Roland Garros attracts thousands of visitors every spring. It’s undoubtedly one of the best addresses in Paris for sports fans! This green setting is in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, near the Bois de Boulogne. It’s just as pleasant to watch a match as it is to stroll around the flower-filled grounds. Emily made a diversion to this historic site on the occasion of an advertising campaign for the Savoir agency called ‘Kiss Cam’ with Alfie, her ex boyfriend from French lesson, an operation that was somewhat tense but ended in great marketing success!

For more information on Roland Garros, please read our article on the event.

The 4 best restaurants in Emily In Paris

Emily loves to show us the most charming places in Paris, but it goes without saying that she also loves to show us the most gourmet places! Here are a few addresses not to be missed for a successful gastronomic stay:

Le Café Lapérouse

Located in the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, the Café Lapérouse is a prestigious address dreamt up by Cordélia de Castellane – also artistic director of Dior Maison and Baby Dior. It’s one of Emily and Mindy’s favorite spot for drinks, gossip and a view of the Eiffel Tower from the terrace! We recommend that you try their tea time with a cake or a delicious ice cream.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to tell you about the gastronomic restaurant Lapérouse, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris on the Quai des Grands Augustins, near Latin Quarter. Dating back to 1766, this legendary Parisian restaurant exudes a singularly chic atmosphere that no-one else can match. Don’t hesitate to give it a try! What’s more, it’s just a few minutes’ walk from the Hôtel des 2 Continents.

Terra Nera aka L’Esprit de Gigi

Gabriel’s cosy restaurant ‘L’Esprit de Gigi’ is nothing less than an Italian restaurant called ‘Terra Nera’. Located on the Place de l’Estrapade, it has retained all its authenticity after the great success of the series. Typical Italian dishes are served here, all homemade and of the highest quality. In the 19th century, the restaurant was a butcher’s shop, which has now been renovated.

La Brasserie des Prés

Dish from Brasserie des Près – Emily in Paris

Because Saint-Germain-des-Prés suits Emily Cooper so well, we couldn’t resist talking about the best addresses in the 6th arrondissement of Paris! Nestling in the pretty Cour du Commerce Saint-André, just a 7-minute walk from the Hôtel des 2 Continents, La Brasserie des Prés offers refined, local French cuisine. Its main mission is to use as many local products as possible to promote a short supply chain and offer high-quality cuisine. The perfect meeting location for a meal with friends or in couple.

No wonder Emily and Mindy took the time to sit down on their pretty terrace to talk about their love affairs, which are admittedly… a little less pretty.

Le Bouillon Chartier

A restaurant not to be missed in Paris, Le Bouillon Chartier has 3 addresses. Here we’ll be talking about the Grands Boulevards address, in the 9th arrondissement. This is the famous place where Gabriel takes Emily for drinks with his restaurant friends for an evening. Although the Bouillon Chartier can be seen closed in the series because of the late meeting time, its furnishings and decor are stunning in their art nouveau style. You’ll be able to sample typically French dishes with sweet tasting at a reasonable price, and this has been the case since 1896!

We recommend that you take the opportunity to visit the amazing Palais Garnier, which is only 1 kilometer from the restaurant.

The Chartier family initially owned around fifteen Bouillon Chartier restaurants, which were gradually sold off. Among them is the famous Brasserie Vagenende, now a listed historic monument, just a 5-minute walk from the Hôtel des 2 Continents!

To find out more about the history of Bouillon Chartier, follow this link.🙂

The Saint-Germain-des-Prés district – Emily in Paris

From the Boulevard Saint-Germain to the Quai de Conti, Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a chic district that’s sure to delight, and Emily understood it. Here are the most iconic locations for a pleasant Parisian break.

Eating out in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

For a delicious breakfast, we recommend heading to the literary café Les Deux Magots. Long frequented by great writers such as Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre, this café will delight you with its unique atmosphere and the quality of its service. Don’t forget to visit the Eglise Saint-Germain-des-Prés just opposite and admire its sumptuous stained glass windows and statues.

For a 100% chic lunch break, you can go to Ralph’s Restaurant at 173 Boulevard Saint-Germain. This restaurant, part of the Ralph Lauren boutique, serves refined American cuisine in a warm, romantic setting. To finish on a high note, head to the nearby Café de Flore and order a hot drink with a pastry! We recommend their delicious hot chocolate.

What to visit in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Buci street

Last but not least, the best thing to do in Paris is to stroll the streets and discover wonderful surprises around every corner.
